You should be able to upload files to your student folder from home and then access them at school from that folder. You can also download documents from your student folder to your home computer (Hit the Save button shown below and save to your home computer - Do NOT Open or it will not work), work on them, and upload them back to retrieve them at school.
Please remember that games and inappropriate materials stored in your student folder are grounds for loss of your network privileges and possible further disciplinary action. This will work best with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents as well as pictures. If you are not using Microsoft Office at home, please save your files in Microsoft Office format to be able to open them at school. Note the reminder below about different versions of Office.
We hope this feature helps you be more successful in your studies and learning.
If your teacher has set up a drop folder in your class folder to hand in assignments, you can do so from home. When logged on you can toggle back and forth between user folders and drop folders with the button circled below.

When in the drop folders, you cannot see files. You cannot save to the root, You have to be in a class folder. You cannot overwrite files, so the names of the files have to be unique.

Some of our computers now come with Office 2007. Documents saved with Office 2007 will have an x at the end (i.e. word.docx instead of word.doc). To open them with earlier versions of Office you will need to install the compatibility pack from Microsoft at Windows users, Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2003 users: Download the Compatibility Pack . Most of our computers at CHS have the compatibility pack installed, Students working with Office 2007 at school or at home should save their files as Office 97-2003. Then they will be able to open them in earlier versions of Office without the compatibility pack.
